Chamba, an ancient princely capital on the Ravi river, preserves a rich Pahari heritage of stone temples, miniature painting and the famous Chamba rumal embroidery. Its central grassy Chowgan, the 10th-century Lakshmi Narayan temple complex and the Bhuri Singh Museum make it one of Himachal's most historic and least crowded towns.
