Agra is a one-monument city for most visitors, and that monument justifies the trip. The Taj at sunrise is materially different from the Taj at eleven — fewer people, better light, and cooler. It is closed on Fridays, which catches out a surprising number of itineraries. Agra Fort deserves the couple of hours it rarely gets, and Fatehpur Sikri sits neatly on the road towards Jaipur rather than as a separate excursion. One night is enough; two only if you want Fatehpur Sikri unhurried or are travelling with people who tire easily.
