Daman, Diu & Silvassa

Diu Tour Packages

Diu is a small island off the Saurashtra coast that was Portuguese until 1961, and it feels closer to Goa's quieter corners than to Gujarat immediately across the bridge — whitewashed churches, a vast sixteenth-century sea fort, and, notably, alcohol is legal here while Gujarat is dry, which accounts for a good deal of its weekend traffic. Nagoa is the main beach and is genuinely good; Ghoghla is longer and quieter. The fort at sunset, with the sea on three sides and a lighthouse still working, is the thing people remember. Most visitors combine it with Gir, two and a half hours away, which makes an unusually varied short trip: lions and a Portuguese island.
