India's oldest national park, established in 1936, and the birthplace of Project Tiger. It is divided into zones — Dhikala, Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Durga Devi — and which one you get materially affects the experience, because they are allocated rather than chosen and permits are released on the park's own calendar. Dhikala is the prized zone and requires an overnight stay inside the park at forest rest houses that book out months ahead. Two safaris across two days give a far better chance than one. As with any tiger park, nobody can promise a sighting, and the operator who does is the one to avoid.

Which zone should I book?
Dhikala if you can get it and are willing to stay inside the park; Bijrani otherwise. Zones are allocated by the park rather than chosen, and permits open on a fixed calendar — book early.
Will I see a tiger?
Possibly. Corbett has a healthy population but dense forest, and sightings are not routine. Two safaris improve the odds meaningfully; anyone guaranteeing one is not being straight with you.
