Radhanagar Beach
Beach · Half dayBeach No. 7. Sunset is the moment. No shacks — bring water.
Island · Andaman Islands
Officially Swaraj Dweep, still universally called Havelock, and the reason most people fly to the Andamans. Radhanagar beach on the west coast is the one that appears on lists of the best beaches in Asia and, unusually, deserves it — wide, white, and backed by forest rather than concrete. The diving is the other draw: warm water, good visibility from December, and a set of dive schools that range from excellent to indifferent. Three nights is right, because the ferry eats most of your arrival and departure days. Book ferries well ahead in season; they sell out and there is no alternative route.
What to see
Beach No. 7. Sunset is the moment. No shacks — bring water.
Snorkelling and water sports. Reached by boat or a muddy 40-minute trek.
Try-dives to PADI certification. Visibility best Dec–Apr. Check the school's ratios.
East coast, so this is the sunrise beach. Quieter than Radhanagar.
Durations
Havelock Island works well as a 2–4 night stay. Tell us your dates and party and we'll price a tailored itinerary.
Good to know
Fly to Port Blair, then a government or private ferry of roughly 90 minutes to two hours. Book the ferry in advance in season — it sells out and there is no other way across.
No, though foreign nationals need a permit issued on arrival at Port Blair. Some islands remain restricted to everyone.
December to April for visibility. The monsoon months from June to September see many operators close and ferries cancelled.
